The secret to being productive is not doing more.
I can have the most productive day by driving all three of my kids to school, doing loads of laundry, tidying up the house, volunteering at my kids school, helping out with homework, driving again….But all this ‘being productive’ quickly burns me out. Why? Because it doesn’t include the activities that fully incorporate all my skills and abilities.
If my days are filled with things that empty my energy supply I am left feeling miserable, tired, and unfulfilled. Instead, a productive day for me includes creating, cooking healthy food, researching and writing for my blog ̶ as well as, driving my kids, helping out with homework, and ‘occasionally’ volunteering at school.
Here are 3 tips that can help you have a productive day while also recharging your battery.
- Find activities/projects that fully engage your skills and talents….for me that’s creating healthy recipes, coaching clients, researching, and writing.
- Incorporate activities that energize you. For some people they don’t feel productive unless they have exercised. Find the time to fit this into your schedule. In my case, I enjoy reading novels so I incorporate this while I’m in the carpool line waiting to pick up my kids from school.
- Don’t cram more in your day, instead fill it purposefully. Be sure to include everything you crave into your daily life. For me, I crave coaching, creating/writing while teaching and guiding my children. This for me is the perfect day.
